PRE-STUDY Children and song: children’s rights to their voice (KMA, 2019)
On behalf of The Royal Swedish Academy of Music, a preliminary study is in progress for the launch of a national multi-year pedagogical and research program. The preliminary study will relate to a research study by the doctoral student David Johnson at the Academy of Music in Malmö. The purpose is to produce and make available educational material for teachers at all levels, a training program, a sounding project in pilot form at several locations in parallel with initiatives aimed at influencing the content of the preschool and compulsory school curricula.
One example of references is the British project “Sing Up”, which was founded in 2007 with state support for promoting singing within the primary school with the aim of “helping children find their voice”.
