Development Management: Increased presence of arts and culture in healthcare settings, Betaniastiftelsen (2016)
Arts and culture in healthcare settings – a way to continue living!
Since 2014 a development project aimed at increasing the presence of art and culture in healthcare settings has been going on. I lead the work on behalf of Betaniastiftelsen, Stockholm. The development is national and is performed in collaboration with the Norrbotten County Council, the Studio Acusticum in Piteå and is supported by the Swedish Arts Council. Read more in the project blog as well as on the demo page for displaying digitally mediated culture, DLA Care. (I am a former quality officer for the project’s initial phases, see here.)
The aim is to extend the cultural scene and through digital transmission increase the presence of culture in healthcare settings so that people in hospitals, treatment centers and homes for the elderly, along with staff and relatives, will be able to take part in a high-quality cultural activities, individually or together.
The goal is a national, sustainable model for a modern cultural arena where the presence of culture strengthened by digital transmission in interaction with other physical activities and meaningful contexts.
The target groups are
1) Children and young people in long-term care at hospitals, relatives and others who are compelled to hospital stays or longer treatments, people in nursing homes, in home care and in care at end of their lives
2) Managers, health professionals and activity coordinators (or equivalent)
3) Cultural institutions (suppliers of artistic content) as well as managers in the cultural sector
